Hi Everyone already the new year is flying by and may I wish you all the best for 2012.Since we last chatted I have been to Gran Canaria and Copenhagen in Denmark. I spent Christmas in Gran Canaria just relaxing and enjoying the wonderful weather. I love the Canary Islands at Christmas for they really go to town on the celebrations and decorations, the whole island is awash with amazing lights, and colourful displays celebrating the birth of Jesus. It never fails to amaze me but wherever I go something happens in conversations that allows me to speak about the joys of spirit communication and I have found that the Spanish with their mainly strict Catholic beliefs are beginning to come out in the open about their spiritual and belief in the afterlife and actually discussing it.

I went to visit the beautiful city of Las Palmas which has many happy memories for me when I was a sailor, although in those days all I visited were the bars this time I took the tourist route and went to the wonderful cathedral and museums and admired the very old buildings, many of them going back to the 15^th century. It has so much history as this was where ships would replenish their stores and water before going on to discover the new world and in the museum there are many wonderful artifacts and paintings that reflect the joys, sadness and triumphs of those bygone times.

While there I had dinner with some old Spanish friends that I had met while I was working at the Sagb and at the dinner table the conversation turned to the fears of spirit communication as there were some guests there that had not experienced anything spiritual except a blessing from a priest and to sit at the same table as a medium was something they never thought that they would ever do. I am sure they thought I could turn into something from the exorcist at a whim. After they realised that I was normal and sane they asked many questions about life, death and the belief in life continuing beyond the grave and they talked about the fears of many Spanish people for since birth they have been bombarded with a vitriolic diatribe from the church that spirit communication is evil and it is playing into hands of the devil and good catholics should have no truck with it.

As the rioja flowed the conversation sometimes got heated so I got my hosts to organise a small demonstration a couple of days later so I could show these people there is nothing to fear. Thank God it was a good dem and some lovely evidence flowed from the loved ones in spirit especially when a young man come through to say he was the son of one of the couples present and he had passed in a boating accident quite a few years ago. His parents were overjoyed. It was so rewarding when after I had finished everyone told me that through my humour and joy of spirit I had helped push aside their fears of the spirit world and that they would like to gain more knowledge of it.

It was no different in Denmark, they have a great history of mediumship but it was pushed aside because of people fears of the unknown and the strength of the church and sceptics. Mediumship was not very popular with the public and there was a great influx of psychics and fortune tellers but recently there has been a great revival in mediumship through great tv programs like Andernes Macht and Klarsyn which I had the privilege of appearing in and demonstrating mediumship. From these programs the unfounded fears, superstitions and outright hostility of mediumship was dispelled and many people have credited these programs of changing the publics perception of mediumship in Denmark for the better.

Now many people want to develop their spiritual gifts and and I have been lucky enough to have been at the forefront of helping Danish mediums to discover their mediumistic abilities and now more British mediums are working there and in fact our own Gordon will be there in may. I have just attended the dan info messene in Copenhagen it was a wonderful weekend talking and learning from many people with a wide and different assortment of spiritual abilities. Copenhagen is a wonderful city to visit, I have had many fabulous visits there and I have been lucky to make so many wonderful friends there who have helped me on my journey. The wonderful harbour, the old buildings and the fantastic Tivoli gardens all add to the fabulous spectacle and of course Danish beer is fantastic. Cant wait to go back later in the year and renew my love of this wonderful country and its people.

That’s all for now my friends will speak to you soon, I am off to Malmo and Stockholm in Sweden in March and I cant wait as it is my first visit there.

The earlier practice of self-healing is an essential part of development; it allows us to look closer at our self and the different aspects of our character through our life’s journey so far. This type of practice helps us to take responsibility for our own actions and realise our strengths and weaknesses, and as we continue in our circle we will develop clarity on how to strengthen our weaker side and bring our strong points more to the fore.

Also, the very fact that you become more dedicated in your meditation and devote time regularly (at least once a week) to advancing in your practice will mean that you are creating space in your mind and enhancing your own spiritual power which will be the basis for a good link with spirit when we move on to the next step.

It is at this point that I would like to talk to you about the spirit world around you and how to first begin your practice of sensing the presence of the spirit who is closest to you and who will guide you from the spirit world through your development and eventually lead you to use your particular spiritual gift appropriately in the future.

Over the past three months, if you have been sitting in the silence and becoming more familiar with your own energy growing and expanding; then it is time to use that force and learn to work with it.

Take yourself into the silence of your own mind and relax your body; be aware of the stillness in your mind and the lack of urgency you feel towards creating thoughts. As always your breathing is the important rhythm which you focus your mind on and by deliberately taking deep controlled breathes and releasing them at your own slow pace, you will be guiding yourself into the silence and stillness of self at a higher level.

By this time if you have practiced regularly you will be begging to master the technique and will be able to find the stillness much easier and will also find that you are in a very comfortable state which should be starting to feel very natural to you.

My first article was entitled ‘The Paranormal Scene Today’; I think that we may build on that.

In Scotland, we have the Scottish Society for Psychical Research, which meets in the Boyd Orr building of Glasgow University. We hold monthly lectures on all sorts of topics, where each speaker provides evidence for their particular interest. Our speakers are of the highest calibre which is evident by the large attendances that we achieve at each meeting.

I fear however, due to the economic climate, that the days of sensible research and lectures may be numbered. One example is the work of Professor Ian Stevenson, University of Virginia, who has worked for decades examining, among other things, children who remember an identifiable previous life. So far they have over 3,000 such children worldwide. It has been made known to me that funding for this project is much diminished. Professor Stevenson passed quite recently but the excellent team that he had still continue this work.

The evening classes on Psychical Research for the University of Glasgow, taken by Prof Roy and myself are becoming financially prohibitive to the potential student in this economic climate.

Last month I spoke about the importance of sitting in a development circle and about the positive effect it has on your mediumship, healing etc. It has become such an integral part of the teachings I now pass on to others and I feel that it is the core of good mediumship and other spiritual work.

It never ceases to amaze me these days when I meet people who are new to the movement that they have no idea how a circle works nor have they even spent one night in such a place of development. This is why it is becoming much more important to me and all the mediums I work with to give people the same foundation we all shared in our own lessons from spirit.

I have mentioned previously that I teach a program in Europe which was intended to make easy the teaching system which I was taught by the spirit teachers and of course my own principle teacher Mrs. Jean Primrose to myself and others who sat in our first development circle.

It was clear to me when I started this program just a couple of years ago that the students loved it and more importantly understood the process because it had a structure which wasn’t about giving readings from objects or blindly being asked to tune-in to the spirit world without having any real clue as how do such a thing.

No, this simple method of starting to build your own power and learning to sit there in your own sacred space, clearing and preparing it for the spirit guides or teachers to come and work with you when the time is right and when you start to learn how to understand your own spiritual nature and how it differs from your emotional and mental systems which are also part of your consciousness.

So Tim, how long have you been working as a medium or with the spirit world?

My early memories take me back to the age of seven, but I’ve been seriously developing since the age of nineteen, that’s thirty two years now.

Where do you work now, where has it taken you too?

I work the length and breadth of Britain. I proudly work on behalf of the SAGB and the SNU. I hold an SNU diploma for demonstrating and I’m one of four recognized trance mediums at the Arthur Finley College.

I work in Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Norway, and Iceland and throughout Europe. In a few weeks, I’m off to Canada. I demonstrate in Theatres across the country each year, which I love but I’m better known for my teaching at the Arthur Finley College, where students come from all over the world.

What was your first encounter or experience from the spirit world?

As early as seven years old I had experiences with the spirit world, but it was around the age of fifteen when I was working as a laborer with a roofing firm in Fulham that I had a major experience.

It happened whilst we were working on an empty property in Crab Tree Lane; the property had been empty for several years when we began to work on it. The experience I had occurred when my two workmates went off to have lunch and left me on my own on the landing where I sat down to have my sandwiches when suddenly I could hear thumping footsteps coming up the stairs towards me.

Through the spindles I could see this young man walking up the stairs and we started having a chat. Basically he was asking me, what I was doing in his house and I explained I was a laborer and that we were trying to repair the building.

This carried on for about four minutes until he finally said, he hoped I was looking after the house and that he thought I was an honest chap and without another word he simply disappeared into thin air.

The next day, I had to clean out the cellar and in the dark I found two very large, black and white, First World War photographs. As I brought them into the light, there in the photo I recognized the young man I had been speaking to the day before.

I donated the photos to the local library where they researched the group called the Crab Tree Regiment. In those days they would gather up all the men from a street and they would become a regiment, named after their street.

Sadly, none of that group returned from France.

Having been a medium for some 30 years and having visited some 9 countries, lectured and demonstrated on the QE2, done the usual TV etc, even for Japan, every day I am further amazed by the power of spirit.

My own mediumship is of a mental type/category with some trance, but my greatest love and dedication to research is that of physical mediumship and my endless probe thereof; remembering that the principal object of spiritualism is based on the reunion with the so-called dead and the main element is to show the reality of an afterlife.

How wonderful in a séance to see in red light, a fully materialised form of a loved-one. I have been privileged to sit in the UK alone with some six physical mediums, five of whom are still alive. I have witnessed ectoplasmic forms, direct-voice mediumship, independent voice phenomena, apports, asports, the passage of matter through matter, being touched by spirit people, taken a spirit person’s pulse rate, and even seen a medium draped in ectoplasm.
